The eResource Central HTML widgets add the ability download, preview, and display the availability of electronic resources to item result and detail displays. When your library subscribes to SirsiDynix eResource Central, these widgets are added to the eResource Central displays in your system. However, you can also add them to other displays that are linked to eResource Central targets.
eResource Central HTML widget functionality is available to all libraries and can be added to any display. However, their functionality is intended expressly for libraries that have subscribed to eResource Central. If you place these widgets in a display not intended for electronic resources, or when your library is not subscribed to eResource Central, the functionality will be restricted or the results (such as availability) incorrect for the item.
For more information about subscribing to eResource Central, contact your SirsiDynix representative.
The following widgets provide eResource Central functionality to Portfolio:
| • | ERC_AVAILABILITY—places the availability of the item as text within the display. To run this widget, the ERC_BASE widget must also be added to the display. |
| • | ERC_BASE—contains the basic functionality for running the eResource Central widgets. ERC_BASE by itself has no interface, but no other eResource Central HTML widgets can run without it also being included. |
| • | ERC_DOWNLOAD—places a "Download" or "Place Hold" button in the display. You must include ERC_BASE and ERC_GUI in the display for ERC_DOWNLOAD to function correctly. |
| • | ERC_GUI—contains the basic interface components for all other eResource Central HTML widgets. ERC_DOWNLOAD and ERC_PREVIEW cannot function without this widget also being included in the display. |
| • | ERC_PREVIEW—places a "Preview" button in the display when the vendor provides a preview of the item. You must include ERC_BASE and ERC_GUI in the display for ERC_DOWNLOAD to function correctly. |
The order that the eResource Central HTML widgets are listed when you select them for a display affects their functionality (for more information, see Managing HTML Widgets). When adding the HTML widgets to a display you should include them in this order:
| 1. | ERC_BASE |
| 2. | ERC_GUI (for ERC_DOWNLOAD and ERC_PREVIEW) |
| 3. | Any combination of the other eResource Central HTML widgets. |
There is no other customization that you need to do for the widgets to work. However, you can edit the widget to customize the interface.
You should not edit the HTML widgets unless you have a good understanding of HTML and Javascript.
